Job Requirements

  • At least 6 years progressive experience in a hotel or related field
  • or a 4-year college degree and at least 4 to 5 years of related experience
  • or a 2-year college degree and at least 5 to 6 years of related experience
  • Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently to move objects
  • Maintain warm and friendly demeanor at all times
  • Must effectively communicate verbally and in writing with employees and guests
  • Must effectively listen to and clarify concerns
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Approach all guests and employees in a friendly and service-oriented manner
  • Attend all required meetings and trainings
  • Participate in M.O.D. coverage as required
  • Maintain regular attendance per Highgate standards
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming including wearing nametags
  • Comply with Highgate standards and regulations for safe and efficient operations
  • Effective in handling problems including anticipating and solving issues
  • Ability to understand and evaluate complex information to meet objectives

Job Qualifications

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Skilled in listening, understanding and clarifying employee and guest concerns
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions
  • Ability to approach all encounters in a friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner
  • Effective problem handling and solution skills
  • Ability to understand and evaluate complex information from various sources
  • Maintain confidentiality of information
  • Experience in hiring, training, performance appraisal and discipline of staff

Job Duties

  • Tour the operating departments daily, making adjustments via department heads
  • Conduct weekly staff meetings including training sessions and sales/operations reviews
  • Meet financial review dates and corporate programs timely
  • Hold monthly financial reviews with all department managers and supervisors
  • Ensure department heads maintain budgeted productivity and accounting procedures
  • Develop managers through training and corporate programs
  • Conduct daily HHBR meetings with Director of Sales focusing on account calls and business results
  • Play a pivotal role in hotel sales efforts including client meetings and hosting events
  • Participate in scheduled M.O.D. coverage
  • Maintain contact and monitor management trainees' development
  • Adhere to Highgate Hotel policies and train new managers in compliance
  • Assist in Highgate Hotel budget processes
  • Ensure training in service standards and compliance with Garden Standard of the Week
  • Foster a positive team-oriented environment focused on guest and employee motivation
  • Inspect rooms regularly with Housekeeping and Engineering
  • Oversee invoice processing daily
  • Ensure timely delivery of financial documents to Corporate Office
  • Maintain cleanliness and physical property through inspections and preventive maintenance
  • Ensure employees are attentive, friendly, courteous, and efficient
  • Forecast monthly financial position analyzing revenue and expenses
  • Conduct management interviews and hiring per Highgate S.O.P.
  • Interview all final management candidates
  • Perform Executive Committee performance appraisals and ensure compliance
  • Motivate, coach, counsel and discipline management personnel
  • Perform duties as assigned by Vice President or Regional Director of Operations
  • Ensure fair and equitable employee treatment
  • Meet clients on property to support sales efforts
  • Be present in public areas during peak times greeting guests
  • Enforce hotel safe security and monthly audits
  • Ensure monthly credit meetings and active role in credit and collection policies
  • Complete required corporate training and become certified trainer
  • Ensure all scheduled meetings occur on property
