Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- at least one year of related public contact experience
- valid driver’s license
- clean driving record
- ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- availability to work part-time 30 to 34 hours per week
- availability to work afternoon shifts generally between 12:00 pm to 10:00 pm Monday through Saturday
- willingness to complete LEADS certification within six months
- strong communication skills
- ability to handle stressful situations
- ability to operate Village vehicles in all weather conditions
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- at least one year of prior related public contact experience
- prior public safety experience preferred
- valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- excellent communication skills
- ability to interact tactfully and courteously with the public
- successful completion of LEADS certification within six months of hire
- ability to work independently and as part of a team
- familiarity with public safety procedures
Job Duties
- Patrol the Village using a motorized vehicle
- observe vehicles and pedestrians and report suspicious circumstances
- enforce village ordinances relating to non-criminal complaints
- issue non-traffic citations
- provide motorist assistance
- assist crossing guards at school crossings
- conduct vacation house watch services and security checks
- provide police station tours and fingerprinting for non-criminal purposes
- assist officers with prisoner processing
- manage traffic control and direction at community events
- transport police vehicles for cleaning, maintenance, and repair
- prepare reports on assigned incidents using computers or mobile data terminals
- attend court as required
