Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in leisure services, recreation, or related field
- Five years of progressively responsible post-graduate experience in public recreation program administration and event management
- Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License
- First-Aid, CPR, AED certification required or ability to obtain within first six months
- Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
- Ability to speak to large and small groups
- Ability to supervise staff effectively
- Willingness to work flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Skilled in business English and related correspondence standards
- Proficient with computers and standard software applications
- Knowledge of federal, state and local rules, ordinances, and regulations
- Ability to maintain records and follow departmental policies
- Ability to lead, train and coordinate employees
- Physical ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds and work in outdoor conditions
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in leisure services, recreation, or related field
- Five years of progressively responsible experience in public recreation administration and event management
- Valid Florida Driver's License
- First-Aid, CPR, and AED certification or ability to obtain within six months
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience supervising seasonal, part-time, and full-time staff
- Knowledge of budget development and administration
- Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
Job Duties
- Manage all aspects of events including activity development, publication, advertising coordination, and entertainment
- Solicit and secure donations, sponsorship, and citizen involvement
- Negotiate with and secure vendors and performers per City policies
- Work closely with City departments to ensure compliance with codes and ordinances
- Collaborate with community organizations on fundraising activities and events
- Assist with planning, implementing departmental goals and tracking key performance indicators
- Serve as lead on the City's Special Event Review Team and manage special event request portal
