Job Requirements

  • must possess a valid florida driver's license
  • bachelor's degree in leisure services, recreation, or related field
  • minimum of five years progressively responsible experience in recreation program and event management
  • first-aid, CPR, and AED certification required or ability to obtain within six months
  • ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing
  • ability to supervise entry and journey level staff
  • availability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • bachelor's degree in leisure services, recreation, or related field
  • five years of progressively responsible experience in public recreation program and event administration
  • ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
  • effective supervision skills
  • skill in business English and customer relations
  • knowledge of budget development and administration
  • familiarity with relevant laws, rules, and regulations
  • proficiency in standard computer software applications
  • ability to speak to large and small groups
  • excellent time management skills
  • certification or ability to obtain first-aid, CPR, and AED
  • ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • manage all aspects of special events including planning activities and coordinating advertising
  • solicit and secure donations, sponsorships, and citizen involvement
  • negotiate and process vendor and performer agreements per city policies
  • ensure compliance with city codes, ordinances, and regulations during events
  • collaborate with community organizations for fundraising activities benefiting parks
  • assist in setting and tracking departmental goals and key performance indicators
  • serve as lead on the special event review team and manage event request portal
