Job Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Four years of relevant supervisory experience in recreational program development
  • Directly related experience may substitute for educational requirements on a year-for-year basis
  • Valid Motor Vehicle Operator's license if operating a vehicle for job duties
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse community stakeholders
  • Commitment to equal employment opportunity principles
  • Ability to undergo pre-employment drug testing and background checks
  • Authorization to work in the United States

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Physical Education, Business Management, Facility Management, Event Management, International Affairs, Environmental or Conservation areas or a closely related field
  • Four years of experience in developing and supervising recreational community center programs, environmental or conservation education, tennis centers, agricultural development, school-park programs, safety and risk management programs, international affairs or cultural programs, or sports programs
  • Certified Park & Recreation Professional (CPRP) certification is desirable
  • Valid Motor Vehicle Operator's license if job duties require driving
  • Certifications such as United States Professional Tennis Registry (USPTR) or United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) are desirable if assigned to Tennis
  • Relevant safety certifications depending on assignment

Job Duties

  • Serve as the administrator for adult and youth recreational programs offered to the public
  • Lead strategic planning and program development for special-use recreational facilities
  • Conduct data analysis to measure program performance and viability
  • Collaborate with community members, staff, leadership, and Park Board members to enhance recreational offerings
  • Oversee operations across facilities including Cooper Tennis Complex, Killian Sports Complex, and The Fieldhouse
  • Develop and implement inclusive recreational programs that engage diverse populations
  • Manage program budgets and resources to meet departmental goals
