Job Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • four years of relevant experience in recreation program development and supervision
  • directly related experience may be substituted year-for-year for education
  • valid Motor Vehicle Operator's license if operating a vehicle for job duties
  • ability to pass pre-employment drug testing
  • proof of United States citizenship or authorization to work in the United States
  • willingness to request accommodation if needed under the Americans with Disabilities Act
  • commitment to equal employment opportunity policies

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Physical Education, Business Management, Facility Management, Event Management, International Affairs, Environmental or Conservation areas or a closely related field
  • four years of experience in developing and supervising recreational community center programs or related areas
  • proven leadership and strategic planning skills
  • experience with community engagement and collaboration
  • certification as a Certified Park & Recreation Professional (CPRP) is desirable
  • certifications such as United States Professional Tennis Registry (USPTR) or United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) are desirable
  • knowledge of safety certifications relevant to assignment

Job Duties

  • Serve as the administrator for adult and youth programs offered to the public
  • lead strategic planning and program development for special-use facilities
  • conduct data analysis to measure program performance and viability
  • collaborate with citizens, staff, leadership, and Park Board members to enhance recreational offerings
  • oversee operations at Cooper Tennis Complex, Killian Sports Complex, and The Fieldhouse
  • manage program budgets and resources
  • ensure compliance with safety and risk management standards
