This position is situated within the Community Recreation Division of the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Department, under the Navy Installations Command (CNIC) at NCBC Gulfport, Gulfport, Mississippi. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Specialized experience equivalent to the next lower level in recreation program management
  • Knowledge of recreation, marketing, or business principles
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Proficiency in program planning and leadership
  • Ability to negotiate and sustain partnerships
  • Must be suitable for federal employment
  • Males must be registered or exempt from Selective Service
  • Successful completion of employment verification (E-VERIFY)
  • Ability to complete a probationary period if required
  • Participation in direct deposit pay program
  • Possession of a valid Social Security card
  • Favorable background check required

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in recreation, marketing, business, or a closely related field preferred
  • Equivalent education, training, and experience in recreation-related work may be considered
  • Knowledge of recreational programs and event planning
  • Experience in customer service and activity-based functions
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
  • Program planning and leadership skills
  • Experience creating and sustaining partnerships
  • Ability to maintain accurate databases

Job Duties

  • Manage and administer a comprehensive year-round recreation program in the ITT office
  • Plan, promote, and implement a variety of MWR Community Recreation programs and activities
  • Seek and establish partnerships within the community to enhance recreational offerings
  • Maintain accurate and clear databases related to recreation programs
  • Represent the department and communicate effectively in both small and large group settings
  • Negotiate, implement, and sustain partnerships via MWR agreements
  • Organize, plan, and conduct activities suitable for diverse demographics, ages, and interests
