Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- previous experience working with food or in kitchen settings preferred
- ability to stand for extended periods
- ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as assigned
- strong communication and interpersonal skills
- reliable and punctual
Job Qualifications
- Previous commercial kitchen experience is helpful but not required
- ability to work as part of a team and pitch in wherever needed
- comfort working evenings, weekends, and holidays as assigned
- friendly, dependable, and care about people
- interest in human services, social work, education, nonprofit work, counseling, criminal justice, or related fields is a plus
Job Duties
- Plan and execute a daily menu in coordination with volunteer meal groups
- use donated food creatively to serve high-quality, balanced meals
- organize and monitor meal service so everything runs smoothly
- oversee the preparation and/or serving of meals with volunteer groups
- work closely with the Community Meal Coordinator to host, guide, and energize volunteers from the community
- anticipate what volunteers will need and prep the kitchen and service area before each shift
- help ensure every volunteer leaves feeling appreciated and excited to come back
