New Community Shelter is a dedicated nonprofit organization based in Green Bay, Wisconsin, committed to serving the local community by providing essential services and support to those in need. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous experience working with food or in kitchen settings preferred
  • ability to stand for extended periods
  • ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as assigned
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • reliable and punctual

Job Qualifications

  • Previous commercial kitchen experience is helpful but not required
  • ability to work as part of a team and pitch in wherever needed
  • comfort working evenings, weekends, and holidays as assigned
  • friendly, dependable, and care about people
  • interest in human services, social work, education, nonprofit work, counseling, criminal justice, or related fields is a plus

Job Duties

  • Plan and execute a daily menu in coordination with volunteer meal groups
  • use donated food creatively to serve high-quality, balanced meals
  • organize and monitor meal service so everything runs smoothly
  • oversee the preparation and/or serving of meals with volunteer groups
  • work closely with the Community Meal Coordinator to host, guide, and energize volunteers from the community
  • anticipate what volunteers will need and prep the kitchen and service area before each shift
  • help ensure every volunteer leaves feeling appreciated and excited to come back
