Job Requirements
- Lived experience and/or experience working within BIPOC communities
- Interest in culture-based, land-centered, and/or justice centered education
- Familiarity with concepts of food sovereignty and food justice
- Some vegetable gardening experience preferred but not required
- Ability to be open and flexible to new ways of working with diverse communities
- Familiarity with Zoom, Google suite, Canva, and Instagram
- Ability to work outdoors often in challenging terrain and extreme heat

Job Duties
- Assist with community classes led by Community Programs Coordinator including seed saving course for BIPOC gardeners and vegetable gardening 101 class
- Facilitate children’s activities during tabling opportunities at the Desert Botanical Garden and off-site community events
- Have schedule flexibility for weekday evening and Saturday events
- Assist Community Programs Coordinator with weekly irrigation days
- Help facilitate Community Garden volunteer workdays
- Be available on-site at the Community Garden on Monday, Tuesday, and Saturday mornings
- Assist with coordination of community building events such as chef demonstration at Farmers' Market, Fund the Farm, volunteer potlucks, and DBG staff volunteer day
- Update harvest/donation, volunteer attendance, and student attendance logs
- Scan volunteer forms
- Attend Community Garden monthly meetings
- Promote Community Garden on social media
- Help draft Community Garden monthly newsletter
