Job Requirements
- Any combination of education and experience providing the required knowledge and abilities
- one year of experience in custodial and building maintenance or successful completion of an approved custodial skills training program
- possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License at time of appointment
- ability to perform heavy manual labor
- ability to follow instructions
- ability to establish and maintain working relationships
- ability to read and write English
Job Qualifications
- Knowledge of materials, methods, tools, and equipment used in cleaning buildings
- knowledge of hand and power tools used in custodial and maintenance work
- knowledge of cleaning solvents, soaps, waxes, and related chemicals
- ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods
- ability to set up staging, rings, flooring, seating, and traffic barriers
- ability to perform minor building maintenance and repairs
- ability to learn to perform fly work, climb ladders, and operate forklifts
- ability to follow oral and written instructions
- ability to establish effective working relationships
- ability to read and write English
Job Duties
- Sets up and takes down heavy equipment such as boxing and wrestling rings and basketball standards
- sets up and arranges chairs, tables, and furniture for events according to charts and plans
- performs custodial duties including sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, window washing, restroom cleaning, and vacuuming
- executes minor repairs involving carpentry, plumbing, painting, and electrical work
- operates hand and power tools, forklifts, pick-up trucks, and other City equipment
- starts and stops boilers and HVAC systems
- cleans filters on air conditioning and heating units
- maintains inventory and orders custodial and maintenance supplies
- assists temporary maintenance personnel and provides traffic control setup during events
- provides exceptional customer service
