Job Requirements
- Must be able to type 25 words per minute
- Must have problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities
- Must work well under stress and emergency situations
- Must maintain HIPAA compliance and confidentiality
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods up to 2 hours
- Must communicate effectively in person and via phone or radio
- Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds and use proper body mechanics
- Must have functional range of motion in spine and extremities
Job Qualifications
- Completion of high school or equivalent
- Must be certified as Emergency Medical Dispatcher within 12 months of employment
- Proficient computer knowledge and skills
- Excellent organization and communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and work accurately under stress
- Discretion in handling confidential information
- Preferred Georgia Emergency Medical Technician/Basic certificate
- Preferred minimum one year public safety communications experience
Job Duties
- Receive incoming calls for emergency and non-emergency transport requests
- Obtain all pertinent information from callers and dispatch ambulances accurately
- Provide basic life support and pre-arrival instructions to callers
- Complete all paperwork accurately and timely including mileage and zip codes
- Serve as primary point of contact for EMS activities and coordinate shift coverage
- Assign calls to closest units following zoning plan using CAD tools
- Act as EMS coordinator in supervisor’s absence and make appropriate decisions
