Job Requirements

  • degree in communications public relations marketing or related field or 7 years in PR or communications role
  • minimum 2 years management experience
  • excellent oral written and interpersonal communication skills
  • ability to interact professionally with all levels of organization sponsors patrons media members and volunteers
  • ability to engage and relate to diverse community groups
  • experience writing for print web social media and publications
  • strong organizational and time management skills
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • knowledge of Raiser’s Edge or similar donor software helpful
  • collaborative work style

  • exceptional customer service
  • leadership and team management experience
  • valid driver’s license and personal vehicle for travel
  • fluency in Spanish is a plus

Job Qualifications

  • degree in communications public relations marketing or related field
  • at least 7 years experience in PR or communications role with 2 years management experience
  • strong oral written and interpersonal communication skills
  • excellent writing and editing experience for print web blogs press releases and publications
  • highly organized with exceptional time management and project management skills
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook and Publisher
  • collaborative work style
  • innovative and creative approach with strong problem-solving abilities
  • ability to identify and capitalize on promotional and communication opportunities
  • leadership experience managing teams including creative staff writers and photographers
  • exceptional customer service skills
  • valid driver’s license and personal vehicle for travel
  • fluency in Spanish is a plus

Job Duties

  • serve as principal point of contact for all ArtsQuest communications needs
  • promote ArtsQuest programs and events to local regional and national media
  • develop public relations strategies including news release development media pitching and select promotions
  • create and maintain annual calendar of announcements press releases and documents to advance PR strategy
  • organize PR events for media related to select events
  • manage the Musikfest media pitching and reviewer hosting process
  • oversee writing and editing of news releases publications brochures and website copy
  • lead content aggregation process coordinating deadlines and announcement calendar with marketing and corporate partnerships
  • collaborate with marketing sponsorship advancement and other departments on PR initiatives to promote events and nonprofit messaging
  • prepare PR content with chief operating officer chief programming officer and senior director of marketing for all ArtsQuest events
  • assist marketing team with digital and print publications including news gathering writing editing proofreading and coordination
  • provide oversight of substantive editing of articles and publications
  • manage Public Relations account (Cision) and media databases
  • work with Volunteer and Internship Programs Manager on selection and development of PR interns
  • collaborate with senior management and CEO on communications plans for initiatives like strategic planning crisis communications and leadership changes
  • assist Grants Administrator with grant aggregation and writing
  • maintain and update organizational crisis communications plans
  • oversee historical archives in print electronic and physical formats
  • serve as liaison to Public Relations Committee and attend meetings
  • mentor and coach the Public Relations Coordinator and interns
  • perform other duties as necessary to fulfill role responsibilities
