Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or GED
  • 1-3 years clerical experience
  • strong administrative and organizational skills
  • thorough knowledge of administrative procedures and processes including word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills, active listening, critical thinking, and time management
  • thorough knowledge of writing fundamentals such as grammar, syntax, style, and punctuation
  • ability to write clear, lively, engaging, and compelling copy appropriate to target audiences

Job Duties

  • assist in planning and implementing departmental conferences, colloquia, and special events including weekly colloquia, quarterly distinguished lectures, and annual CS Summit
  • manage event logistics such as timelines, catering, hotel and room reservations
  • assist with travel and scheduling for faculty candidates during recruitment
  • coordinate department events including annual BBQ, faculty retreat, and advisory board visits
  • develop marketing and branding initiatives for the department under supervision
  • write and edit content for website, newsletters, and printed materials
  • maintain department website and social media presence including Facebook and Twitter
  • produce programs and posters for department events
  • provide administrative support to the Department Chair including calendar management, email handling, memo drafting, and presentation preparation
  • support the Business Officer with administrative tasks
  • update and maintain website content as received from faculty and staff
