Job Requirements

  • Must meet qualifications and requirements by announcement closing date
  • resume and transcripts must clearly demonstrate qualifications
  • meet time-in-grade requirements applicable to GS grade level
  • meet time after competitive appointment for current federal civilian employees
  • provide unofficial transcripts if relying on education to qualify
  • foreign education must be accompanied by accredited equivalency evaluation
  • ability to respond to competency questions during application
  • must be able to occasionally work overtime
  • must not be covered by bargaining unit

Job Qualifications

  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 grade level for GS-11
  • specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level for GS-12
  • specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level for GS-13
  • specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level for GS-14
  • specialized experience in retail procurement and distribution methods
  • knowledge of principles, procedures, and techniques of retail food merchandising and store management
  • ability to develop and apply store policies and procedures
  • strong interpersonal skills
  • management experience in retail store
  • familiarity with developments in commercial retail food store items and equipment

Job Duties

  • Manage all activities and functions of the commissary including grocery, meat, produce, and deli-bakery departments where applicable
  • provide management support and supervisory responsibilities for store employees
  • plan, standardize, and control operations within the commissary
  • develop, interpret, and apply policies, procedures, and operating standards for the store
  • provide technical advice on merchandising and operational matters related to grocery, meats, produce, and front-end operations
  • ensure compliance with retail procurement and distribution methods
  • oversee employee performance and training to ensure operational excellence
