Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • education high school diploma or equivalent
  • no prior experience required but retail or customer service experience is a plus
  • ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • ability to lift up to 25 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally
  • ability to perform repetitive motions such as reaching, bending, stooping, squatting and handling products
  • ability to use cash handling tools including counterfeit detection
  • ability to communicate clearly and work in a fast-paced retail environment
  • availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • ability to adhere to professional dress code

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • strong communication skills
  • ability to operate POS systems and cashier equipment
  • attention to detail for accurate transactions and cash handling
  • basic computer skills
  • understanding of customer service best practices
  • proficiency in basic math and cash handling procedures

Job Duties

  • Provide friendly and helpful customer service including handling difficult situations and resolving customer concerns with supervisor assistance as needed
  • accurately identify produce items and process produce codes
  • process all forms of transactions including cash, checks, coupons, and electronic payments including debit, credit, gift cards, EFS, EBT, and WIC
  • utilize knowledge of store layout and products to assist customers with inquiries and problem-solving
  • follow detailed payment acceptance processes to ensure accuracy and minimize losses
  • efficiently and accurately process all store merchandise at the register maintaining a sufficient scan rate
  • prepare and maintain accurate records for cash drops and coin needs throughout the shift
  • adhere to all company policies including accounting for items at the bottom of the basket
  • comply with California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control and related regulations
  • utilize supervisor assistance to void items or transactions and resolve technical issues
  • supervise and operate self-checkout stations ensuring customer accuracy and troubleshooting
  • reconcile the assigned till at the end of the shift accurately balancing payments
  • process customer transactions accurately through the POS system
  • maintain up-to-date knowledge of promotions and store policies
  • report unsafe conditions and suspicious activities
  • validate denominations of $20 or higher and inform management of counterfeit bills
  • perform other duties as assigned
