This position is with a U.S. Air Force unit specializing in air refueling and strategic command operations, primarily utilizing the KC-135R/T aircraft. Job Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience at GS-11 level or equivalent
  • Knowledge of military aviation concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Ability to apply analytical methods to improve organizational productivity
  • Experience working in mission essential roles under DoDI 3020-42
  • Subject to initial and periodic short notice drug testing
  • Must meet federal time-in-grade requirements where applicable
  • Ability to travel as needed for work-related groups and lectures
  • Capability to maintain security clearance for handling classified information

Job Qualifications

  • Recent experience as a KC-135R/T pilot
  • Experience with USSTRATCOM aircrew command and control procedures
  • Graduation from KC-135 Weapons Instructor Course (desired)
  • Knowledge of Air Mobility Command, Air Combat Command, and USSTRATCOM operations
  • Ability to produce written plans, policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Skill in analytical and evaluative techniques for mission assessment
  • Proven ability to handle classified information up to Top Secret level

Job Duties

  • Train KC-135R/T aircrew members on STRATCOM OPLAN 801x and contingency plans
  • Provide classroom instruction including preparation and delivery of multi-media lesson plans
  • Assess and evaluate mission requirements, organizational capabilities, and potential shortfalls
  • Develop new or modified work methods, processes, or procedures to improve operational efficiency
  • Participate in working groups, lectures, and panel discussions relating to aircrew command and control operations
  • Maintain effective working relationships with leadership during exercises and emergency management sessions
  • Ensure compliance with Air Force drug testing and mission essential personnel requirements
