Job Requirements

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States
  • Previous experience as a cold prep cook in a similar property, culinary school or apprenticeship program preferred
  • Ability to communicate in English orally and written
  • Ability to understand verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Must be able to manually handle/lift products up to 60 pounds
  • Must have bilateral fine manipulation of hands
  • Must be vertically mobile working in limited space

Job Qualifications

  • Previous culinary/kitchen experience preferred but not required
  • Ability to communicate in English both orally and written
  • Ability to understand verbal directions and written menus, recipes, labels on foods and chemicals
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage stressful situations
  • Experience working in higher volume or fine dining kitchens preferred
  • Completion of culinary school or apprenticeship program is a plus

Job Duties

  • Ensure that all mise en place is prepared for respective stations as well as proper forecasting of prep needs for assigned station
  • Prepare food products and execute cold foods, salads, appetizers and desserts meeting standards of executive chef, pastry chef, hotel management and guests
  • Safely operate kitchen equipment including ovens, stoves, dishwashers, slicers, steamers, mixers and chef's knives
  • Handle and communicate special orders and guest complaints professionally
  • Maintain food safety, work station and personal cleanliness and sanitation standards as required by health authorities and OSHA
  • Know who to notify in case of broken equipment or unsafe/unsanitary conditions
  • Manually handle/lift products up to 60 pounds between knee and chest
  • Protect the assets of Migis Hotel Group and the property
