Job Requirements

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age due to A.B.C. section 4.1-307
  • 1 - 2 years server experience in a full service restaurant
  • Excellent public contact skills to include tact, courtesy and patience
  • Ability to meet the standards listed, satisfy customers under all circumstances, communicate effectively, read and write, perform basic mathematical computations, memorize the food and beverages offered, and learn and communicate relevant dining information to guests
  • Physical requirements including bending, lifting, stooping, carrying trays weighing up to 50 pounds, extensive use of stairs
  • Successful candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a current Williamsburg James City County food handler’s card and TIPS certification
  • Applicants with an active card and certification should be prepared to present both during interview process

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 - 2 years server experience in a full service restaurant
  • Excellent public contact skills to include tact, courtesy and patience
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to read and write
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations and memorize food and beverages offered
  • Ability to learn and communicate relevant dining information to guests

Job Duties

  • Greet guests hospitably and serve them efficiently providing proper food and beverage service
  • Learn and describe menu items to guests including chef specials
  • Suggest wine and other beverages
  • Responsible for standard table set-up procedures and cleanliness of the dining room
  • Perform other duties as required
