The position available is for a hospitality team member responsible for ensuring outstanding guest service within multiple bars and restaurants under the Pueblo of Sandia. This role is focused primarily on taking and delivering drink and food orders efficiently while maintaining compliance with all applicable alcohol service regulations and guidelines. Every interaction with guests represents the opportunity to create a positive and memorable experience, and the role demands a combination of friendly demeanor, professionalism, and attentiveness to detail.

The team member will be instrumental in maintaining the atmosphere and cleanliness of the venues, including setup at the beginning of shifts and breakdown at closing, alongside managing guest inquiries and coordinating closely with bartenders, servers, hosts, and other team members. Their duties also extend to responsible alcohol service, ensuring that all patrons are properly checked for valid identification and that intoxicated guests are managed tactfully and according to policy.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED certification or equivalent
  • Minimum one year serving experience in a beer, wine, and spirits establishment
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Must obtain and maintain New Mexico Alcohol Server's License upon hire
  • Must pass stringent background investigation
  • Must complete pre-employment and random drug screening
  • Ability to lift at least 25 lbs
  • Must be available to work varying schedules including days, nights, weekends, holidays, split shifts, and overtime as needed
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Must adhere to uniform and personal hygiene standards
  • Must follow health and safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Ability to operate POS system effectively
  • Ability to maintain punctual and regular attendance
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various conditions
  • Must demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED certification or equivalent
  • Minimum one year serving experience in an establishment serving beer, wine, and spirits
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Knowledge of beverage offerings including cocktails, spirits, wines, and beers
  • Understanding of local alcohol service laws and regulations
  • Experience with Point-Of-Sale systems
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and manage orders in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in cash handling and transaction processing
  • Knowledge of bar and restaurant operations
  • Ability to follow written and oral leadership directions
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work harmoniously with co-workers
  • Knowledge of sanitation practices according to Indian Health Services
  • Commitment to maintaining personal hygiene and safety standards

Job Duties

  • Greet guests with a friendly and welcoming demeanor
  • Take and accurately record drink orders into the POS system
  • Maintain a professional and approachable attitude while engaging with guests
  • Monitor guests for intoxication and handle situations with tact, notifying supervisors when necessary
  • Set up and break down cocktail areas at the beginning and end of shifts
  • Participate in daily property communications and trainings
  • Collect and serve drinks with appropriate garnishes and napkins
  • Support a positive and inclusive work environment
  • Collaborate with bartenders, servers, and hosts for seamless service
  • Maintain knowledge of all in-house services and local information
  • Clear tables and maintain cleanliness during service
  • Promote additional menu items and upsell specialty beverages
  • Use guest names when presenting bills and offer farewells
  • Adhere to uniform and personal hygiene standards
  • Comply with health and safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Process guest payments accurately and efficiently
  • Complete opening and closing side work as assigned
  • Uphold responsible alcohol service including ID checks and refusal of service to intoxicated patrons
  • Serve food items as required
  • Operate POS systems accurately and maintain financial controls
  • Ensure punctual and regular attendance according to policy
