Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Food Handler's Certification
- must be able to read, write, and communicate in English
- ability to understand food preparation and safety procedures
- 1+ years in school food service preferred
- able to perform physical demands of the job including prolonged standing and lifting moderate weights
- able to work in environments with exposure to heat, humidity, noise, chemicals, and biological hazards
- maintain emotional control under stress
- follow safety protocols and emergency procedures
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Food Handler's Certification

- ability to understand food preparation and safety procedures
- 1+ years in school food service (preferred)
- such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Trustees may find appropriate and acceptable
Job Duties
- Assist the Head Cook in reviewing recipes to determine the quantities of ingredients needed to prepare menu items
- plan cooking schedule in conjunction with supervisor to ensure that food will be ready at specified times
- prepare washing, trimming, cooking, and seasoning of food items for each meal
- measure and mix ingredients according to recipes
- bake, roast, broil and steam meats, fish and other foods
- observe and taste food being cooked and add ingredients as needed as per recipe specifications
- adjust heat controls and timers on ovens, grills, etc., as required
- prepare and direct distribution of according to menu combinations
- maintain cooking area in a clean, neat and orderly manner
- complete annual professional standard requirements
- follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures
- perform other duties as assigned
