Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Successful completion of the 75-hour state-approved Nursing Assistant course
  • Active Nurse Aide (CNA) license in good standing in Nebraska
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association

Job Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a 75-hour state-approved Nursing Assistant course
  • Active Nurse Aide (CNA) license in good standing in Nebraska
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
  • Prior experience in patient care is preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a healthcare team

Job Duties

  • Check-in with the outgoing CNA at the beginning of your shift to get a report on your patients
  • Conduct hourly rounds on patients, checking vitals, maintaining whiteboard information, and assisting with care as needed
  • Assist patients with ambulation as necessary, including helping them reach a recliner, walk to the bathroom, or down the hall, and assist released patients safely to their vehicles outside
  • Assist patients with hygiene needs, which may include full bed baths, assisted bed baths, or providing towels and soap to ambulatory patients
  • Help the bedside nurse with tube insertions such as NG tubes, rectal tubes, or catheters by holding water, supporting the patient, providing supplies, and cleaning up after
  • Assist the bedside nurse with wound checks or dressing changes by holding the patient or supplies and cleaning up after
  • Change bed linens, check patients' weight, and carry out other daily assigned tasks
