Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • six months experience in volume food preparation or equivalent training
  • current food handler's certificate
  • ability to follow safety and sanitation procedures
  • ability to lift and carry moderately heavy objects
  • reliable transportation for travel as assigned
  • ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • capability to work in varied environmental conditions

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate or GED preferred
  • six months experience in volume food preparation or ability to learn through on-the-job training
  • comprehension of proper sequence of job activities
  • ability to perform work tasks with minimal supervision
  • ability to follow safety procedures
  • ability to perform varied tasks efficiently
  • ability to establish effective working relationships with co-workers and supervisors
  • ability to work professionally, efficiently, and dependably within departmental policies
  • capacity to interpret school policies and safety regulations
  • possession and maintenance of current food handler's certificate
  • willingness to accept any campus assignment

Job Duties

  • Reports at assigned time and campus
  • keep kitchen in a clean and orderly condition
  • follow standardized recipes provided by the manager for food preparation
  • follow Child Nutrition Dietitian instructions for special diets
  • serve food items using proper portion sizes according to USDA regulations
  • prepare proper amounts of food in a timely manner following menus
  • follow schedule provided by the manager and complete duties on time
  • maintain high standards of sanitation, personal hygiene, punctuality, and attendance
  • operate and clean kitchen equipment efficiently such as range, ovens, steam kettle, steam table, mixer, chopper, slicer
  • report any kitchen equipment needing repair to manager
  • work rapidly and efficiently in performing tasks
  • store food supplies and leftovers according to instructions
  • mix cleaning solutions to specifications
  • assist in general kitchen cleaning and sanitation
  • provide own transportation for assigned travel
  • cross-train in all food preparation areas
  • perform duties safely to avoid injury
  • perform other related duties as assigned
