Job Requirements
- Certified Medical Assistant or nursing licensure
- Completion of Iowa Dependent Adult Abuse and Iowa Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter training
- Education sufficient to obtain Medical Assistant certification
- One year experience working in a medical office setting preferred
- Knowledge of dementia care preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively with adults and people living with dementia
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to perform medication administration under RN supervision
Job Qualifications
- Certified Medical Assistant or nursing licensure
- Education sufficient to obtain Medical Assistant certification
- Knowledge of administrative and clinical functions in a physician office setting
- Knowledge and skills necessary to interact with adults and people living with dementia
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- One year experience working in a medical office setting preferred
- Dementia knowledge preferred
- Completion of Iowa Dependent Adult Abuse and Iowa Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter training
Job Duties
- Administers oral, SubQ and IM medications under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse
- Performs accurate measurement of patient statistics to include vitals, height and weight
- Manages room turnover and patient flow
- Collects health history and medication list
- Escribes orders
- Prepares patient for physician's exam
- Instructs patients as directed by the RN or Physician
- Performs office duties including triaging phone calls and obtaining medical records
- Practices standard precautions
- Maintains inventory in rooms and orders office and clinical supplies and instruments
- Follows Mercy's safety guidelines, carries out job-specific safety duties and responsibilities, and promptly reports any unsafe conditions, situations, incidents and injuries
- Serves as an immediate triage for medical questions by patients and/or care partners and sends to the Nurse Navigator, Pharmacist, Nurse Practitioner and/or Physician
- Administers cognitive exams as directed by the Nurse Practitioner and/or Physician
- Schedules patient appointments in Epic, schedules meetings in Outlook, and performs data entry duties
- Helps educate patients, care partners, and community on brain health
- Assists with pilots and new programs being developed
- Coordinates with other Mercy departments as needed
- Communicates with external organizations on behalf of the Memory Center
- Orders clinic supplies
- Helps coordinate internal and external education as needed
- Assists with education supplies and travel
