Job Requirements
- Active CMA or RMA certification from accredited association
- completed accredited Associates Degree program in Medical Assisting or accredited CMA program
- BLS/CPR certification
- ability to prepare patients for examinations
- ability to administer injections and medications
- skill in wound care and dressing
- proficiency in collecting and recording patient data using EMR systems
- competence in cleaning and sterilizing medical instruments
- capability to conduct specified laboratory tests
- effective communication skills for interacting with patients, insurance companies, and managed care
- ability to schedule procedures and manage prior authorizations
- experience responding to patient phone calls and triage
- skills in patient education and instruction
- ability to perform front office support duties including receptionist and secretarial tasks
Job Qualifications
- Active CMA or RMA certification from accredited association
- successfully completed and passed an accredited Associates Degree program in Medical Assisting or an accredited CMA program
- BLS/CPR certification
- one year clinical experience preferred
Job Duties
- Prepares patient for and assists with examinations
- administers injections and medications, dresses wounds and incisions, provides accurate and consistent information to the patient using an established protocol, interprets Physician's instructions to patients, assists with emergencies and minor procedures, and performs related tasks as directed
- collects patient data and maintains records of vital statistics and physiological/biological information in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system
- cleans and sterilizes instruments and equipment, and maintains stock of supplies and medications
- conducts specified laboratory tests
- acts as receptionist, performs secretarial duties, may communicate with insurance companies, and calling in/faxing prescriptions
- communicates with managed care for prior authorizations
- schedules procedures on campus and off site
- responsible to respond to/triage patient phone calls and messages
- educates patients and instructs on any medications, treatment plans, etc.
- performs all other duties as assigned by Department Manager
