Job Description
Hosparus Health is a leading provider of hospice and palliative care dedicated to improving the quality of life for patients facing advanced illness or end-of-life care. With a compassionate approach, Hosparus Health focuses on providing holistic and team-based care that respects the preferences and dignity of each patient. Serving numerous counties in Kentucky, including Butler, Edmonson, Warren, Hart, Barren, Metcalfe, Monroe, Allen, Simpson, and Logan, Hosparus Health ensures that patients receive personalized care wherever they call home, whether that be in a private residence, nursing facility, or hospital setting.
The organization prides itself on delivering care that goes above and beyond typical standards, empowering its staff to create meaningful moments for patients and their families during challenging times. With a commitment to compassionate service, Hosparus Health supports its employees with resources and training to uphold the highest clinical and ethical standards in end-of-life care.
The On Call Registered Nurse position at Hosparus Health is a vital role within the team, providing flexible nursing care during on-call hours, which include weekends and one weekday shift. This role is designed for a registered nurse who is dedicated to maintaining excellence in nursing practice while supporting the organization’s mission. Duties include responding to both scheduled and unscheduled patient visits, conducting admissions, and facilitating transitions between care settings, such as facility to home admissions. This position requires a strong knowledge of palliative care principles and adherence to regulatory and accreditation standards.
Working as an On Call Registered Nurse at Hosparus Health means joining a compassionate community committed to making a significant positive impact on patients' lives. The schedule is structured from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, with one additional 8-hour weekday shift. The role demands the ability to work independently while remaining aligned with the team’s objectives to provide seamless patient care.
Candidates are expected to hold current RN licensure in Kentucky or Indiana or be able to obtain licensure upon hire. While a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred and Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse (CPHN) certification is encouraged, the most critical factor is a minimum of one year of nursing experience, preferably in hospice or home health care. Proficiency with technology, including electronic medical records, is highly desirable to ensure high-quality documentation and communication.
Hosparus Health values diversity and equity, providing equal employment opportunities regardless of race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, or any other characteristic protected by law. The compensation for this position is competitive and determined based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
Joining Hosparus Health as an On Call Registered Nurse presents a rewarding opportunity to contribute to a team known for its dedication to compassionate end-of-life care, offering both professional growth and a chance to truly make a difference in patients’ lives.
