Job Requirements

  • bachelor's degree in nutrition dietetics or a related field
  • minimum of 1 year of experience in an acute care environment or completion of a coordinated undergraduate program with a dietetic internship of no less than 900 hours under supervision of a registered dietitian
  • state of idaho licensed dietitian and cdr registered dietitian required within 90 days of hire
  • bls required
  • proficient in microsoft office meditech and nutrition care manual

Job Qualifications

  • proficient in microsoft office meditech and nutrition care manual
  • member of the academy of nutrition and dietetics preferred
  • kootenai health approved specialty certification preferred

Job Duties

  • provides high quality evidence based patient-focused medical nutrition therapy to patients by identifying and providing age specific nutrition counseling to meet cultural needs
  • establishes individualized plans of care for each assigned patient including planning menus and providing instruction for normal or therapeutic nutrition and monitoring and revising care plans as needed
  • coordinates food service procurement for assigned patients production and distribution
  • provides technical guidance and advice to other personnel involved in patient food planning preparing and serving to achieve health goals
  • provides patient professional and nutrition staff education as needed
  • coordinates with other clinical dietitians to ensure continuum of care during shift changes patient transfers and discharges
  • refers complex issues to higher-level staff and leadership as needed
