Job Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • able to stand for majority of the shift
  • able to lift 30 lbs without aid

Job Qualifications

  • Experienced veterinary assistant with over 5 years in veterinary medicine including 1-2 years in emergency room settings or licensed technician with over 2 years in ER or high-volume general practice
  • committed to growth mindset and continuous improvement
  • skilled in communication with team members and patient families with empathy and compassion
  • able to use multiple online platforms for task management
  • strong attention to detail
  • empowered patient advocate
  • tenured clinical supervisor or veterinary technician with supervisory experience preferred
  • formal training in communication or interpersonal de-escalation preferred
  • Fear Free certification preferred

Job Duties

  • Maintain and uphold core values and mission statement of MPH
  • embody a clinic environment that builds morale and focuses on mentorship and personal growth
  • advocate and educate the veterinary community about urgent care services
  • manage the online scheduling interface to optimize patient visits
  • tele-triage potentially emergent patients to prioritize care
  • maximize patient flow and throughput
  • support medical staff by aligning incoming cases with their needs
  • aid in patient handling, treatments, and diagnostic testing
  • field calls from general practice veterinary clinics regarding referred patients
  • coordinate with referral emergency hospitals for patient record transfer
  • support inventory management with weekly counts and reporting
