Job Requirements

  • H.S. diploma or equivalent
  • Successful completion of a Medical Assistant education program certified or registered medical assistant required or completion of a Vocational Nurse program required
  • Six months of previous healthcare facility clinical experience as LVN, MA, CNA, or patient care experience or completion of internal THR MA externship
  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant or Licensed Vocational Nurse State of Texas upon hire required
  • BCLS certification within 30 days of hire required
  • THR Urine Drug Collector training within 30 days of hire required
  • Previous experience with electronic health record preferred

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of Medical Assistant or Vocational Nurse program
  • Certification or registration as Medical Assistant or Licensed Vocational Nurse
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
  • Training in urine drug collection
  • Ability to perform phlebotomy and medication administration
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts and float to multiple locations
  • Empathy and professionalism in patient care
  • Ability to assist providers in clinical procedures

Job Duties

  • Collects identification and payor related documentation, conducts registration using EPIC workflow
  • Measures and documents vitals and communicates the data to the consumer and provider
  • Documents chief complaint, allergies, health history, and current medications accurately in EPIC
  • Performs and documents laboratory testing and collections per provider orders, including venipuncture
  • Administers and documents oral and intramuscular medication using appropriate medication verification workflow
  • Assists provider with procedures including maintaining sterile fields, laceration repair, incision and drainage, and application of ortho-goods
  • Behaves professionally and empathetically to build trust and comfort with consumers and guests
  • Welcomes consumers and guests with eye contact, smile, greeting, and personal introduction
  • Recognizes and notifies provider of emergent patients and assists with emergency care
  • Schedules primary care referrals
  • Maintains office, medical supplies, and medications at appropriate levels
  • Performs quality checks throughout the facility
  • Other duties as assigned
