Job Requirements
- H.S. diploma or equivalent
- Completion of Medical Assistant or Vocational Nurse education program
- Certification or registration as Medical Assistant or LVN
- Minimum 6 months previous healthcare clinical experience or completion of THR MA externship
- BCLS certification maintained every 2 years
- THR Urine Drug Collector training maintained every 5 years
- Ability to perform venipuncture competency
- Ability to work various shifts as assigned
- Maintain professional demeanor and customer service attitude
Job Qualifications
- H.S. diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of a Medical Assistant education program or Vocational Nurse program
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) upon hire
- Previous clinical experience in health care facility or completion of internal MA externship
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification within 30 days of hire
- THR Urine Drug Collector training within 30 days of hire
- Ability to perform venipuncture with competency check-off
- Previous experience with electronic health record systems preferred
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to assist with minor clinical procedures under provider guidance
Job Duties
- Collects identification and payor related documentation, conducts registration using EPIC workflow
- Measures and documents vitals and communicates data to the consumer and provider
- Documents chief complaint, allergies, health history, and current medications accurately in EPIC
- Performs and documents laboratory testing and collections per provider orders, including venipuncture
- Administers and documents oral and intramuscular medication using appropriate medication verification workflows
- Assists provider with procedures such as maintaining sterile field, laceration repair, incision and drainage, and application of ortho-goods and ortho-glass
- Behaves professionally and empathetically to build trust and relationships with consumers and guests
- Welcomes consumers and guests with eye contact, smile, greeting, and personal introduction
- Recognizes and notifies provider immediately of emergent patients, performs basic life support, provides oxygen administration, and assists with emergency care
- Schedules primary care referrals for consumers
- Maintains office supplies, medical supplies, and medications at appropriate par levels
- Performs quality checks throughout the facility as established
- Carries out other duties as assigned
