Job Requirements
- H.S. diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of a Medical Assistant education program certified or registered medical assistant or vocational nurse program
- Minimum 6 months previous healthcare clinical experience or completion of internal externship training
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant or Licensed Vocational Nurse in Texas if LVN upon hire
- BCLS certification maintained every 2 years and required before independent patient care
- THR Urine Drug Collector training maintained every 5 years and required before independent care
Job Qualifications
- H.S. diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of a Medical Assistant education program or Vocational Nurse program
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant or Licensed Vocational Nurse in Texas upon hire
- Previous healthcare clinical experience or completion of internal MA externship training program
- Knowledge of electronic health records preferred
- BCLS certification within 30 days of hire
- THR Urine Drug Collector training within 30 days of hire
Job Duties
- Collects identification and payor related documentation, conducts registration using EPIC workflow
- Measures and documents vitals and communicates results to consumer and provider
- Documents chief complaint, allergies, health history, and current medications accurately in EPIC
- Performs and documents laboratory testing and collections per provider orders, including venipuncture
- Administers and documents oral and intramuscular medication using appropriate verification workflow
- Assists provider with procedures including maintaining sterile field, laceration repair, I&D, and ortho-goods application
- Welcomes consumers and secondary guests with professional and empathetic manner
- Recognizes and notifies provider of emergent patients, performs BLS, and assists with emergency care
- Schedules primary care referrals for consumers
- Maintains office supplies, medical supplies, and medications at appropriate levels
- Performs quality checks per established policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned
