Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Successful completion of a Medical Assistant education program or Vocational Nurse program
  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant or Licensed Vocational Nurse Texas state license upon hire
  • Six months previous healthcare clinical experience or completion of THR MA externship training
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification within 30 days of hire
  • THR Urine Drug Collector training within 30 days of hire
  • Ability to work three 12-hour shifts per week
  • Flexibility to float across multiple Texas Health Urgent Care locations

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Successful completion of a Medical Assistant education program or vocational nurse program
  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant or Licensed Vocational Nurse in Texas
  • Six months previous healthcare clinical experience or completion of internal THR MA externship
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification maintained every 2 years
  • THR Urine Drug Collector training maintained every 5 years
  • Previous experience with electronic health records preferred
  • Ability to maintain discretion and good judgment
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

Job Duties

  • Collects identification and payor related documentation, conducts registration using EPIC workflow
  • Measures and documents vitals and communicates data to consumer and provider
  • Documents chief complaint, allergies, health history, and current medications accurately in EPIC
  • Performs laboratory testing and collections per provider orders, including venipuncture
  • Administers and documents oral and intramuscular medication
  • Assists provider with procedures, including maintaining sterile field and laceration repair
  • Welcomes consumers and secondary guests, builds trust and comfort
  • Recognizes emergent patients, performs BLS, provides oxygen, assists with emergency care
  • Schedules primary care referrals
  • Maintains office and medical supplies at appropriate par levels
  • Performs quality checks throughout the facility
  • Performs other duties as assigned
