Job Requirements
- Associate's degree from a medical assistant program preferred
- Minimum 1 year customer service experience in a healthcare setting preferred
- CCMA certification or other recognized medical assistant certification upon hire preferred
- Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs
- Frequent sitting and standing
- Frequent keyboard use
- Ability to perform kneeling, bending, squatting, and CPR as required
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to maintain professionalism and empathy under stress
Job Qualifications
- Specialized diploma as a medical assistant or completion of LVPG Medical Assistant Trainee course
- Strong multitasking, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in EMR systems, word processing, and Excel
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities while maintaining efficiency in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills demonstrating empathy and professionalism
- Exceptional customer service and phone etiquette
- Knowledge of clinical workflows, medical terminology, and basic patient care practices
- BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association within 30 days
Job Duties
- Behave in a professional and empathetic manner to build trust, comfort, understanding and relationships with consumers and secondary guests
- Coordinate and perform patient check-in/check-out, ensuring accurate registration and information collection
- Verify insurance eligibility, collect payments (co-pays or self-pay fee), and process referrals
- Schedule appointments while optimizing clinic workflow
- Handle patient inquiries
- Maintain electronic medical records (EMR), ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Maintain all required logs including quality control and stat cart checks
- Measure and collect patient data including temperature, pulse, oxygen saturation, respirations, blood pressure, height, weight, and in indicated pediatric patients, length and head circumference
- Ensure accurate documentation in the medical record
- Assist providers with the collection of patient information including reason for visit, chief complaint, health history, allergies and current medications for provider review
- Complete patient rooming process and implement standard operating procedures to expedite the care process and provide patient comfort
- Identify patient risks and communicate them to the provider
- Prepare and maintain exam rooms, ensuring proper sanitation and supply stocking
- Collect and prepare lab specimens and complete necessary requisitions
- Administer medications and vaccinations per provider orders and established protocols within scope of practice
- Support patient procedures and assist with medical examinations
- Complete follow-up phone calls to all patients within two to three days post discharge
