Job Requirements

  • experience in a medical or clinical office preferred
  • proficiency with phone systems and computer software including Microsoft Office

Job Duties

  • Greet patients in a friendly, professional manner
  • check in patients for appointments via gGastro
  • copy patient insurance cards and driver’s license to ensure accurate medical records
  • update all patient information including demographics, insurance, pharmacy, referring and primary MD, and advanced directives
  • collect patient payments
  • obtain electronic signatures for HIPAA, Medicare, and release of information
  • manage multiple incoming calls via phone console and computer software
  • schedule office visits and mail patient packets
  • utilize wait list to fill empty appointments and document cancellations
  • collaborate with providers and nursing for late arrivals
  • enter notes for no-shows and cancelled appointments and send tasks to nursing
  • monitor and confirm automated appointment confirmations
  • print clinical summaries and lab orders
  • communicate supply needs to designated personnel
  • operate and maintain copy machine, credit card machine, and scanner
  • maintain proficiency in typing and software including Microsoft Office, Phreesia, and EPIC
  • assist in keeping waiting room and staff lounge neat
  • maintain HIPAA compliance
  • answer questions and provide information within scope of knowledge
  • adhere to security, privacy, and confidentiality policies
  • report IT malfunctions promptly
  • communicate pertinent information efficiently
  • follow personnel policies
  • adapt to changes in work environment
  • perform other assigned duties
