Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- prior experience in a medical office or healthcare setting preferred
- proficient computer skills including typing at least 30-45 wpm
- familiarity with Epic EMR or similar electronic medical record systems
- strong verbal and written communication skills
- knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding
- ability to multitask and manage a fast-paced work environment
- strong organizational skills
- commitment to excellent customer service
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED
- experience as a clinic office receptionist or secretary preferred
- computer skills with typing speed of at least 30-45 wpm
- experience with Epic EMR preferred
- knowledge of medical terminology and insurance terminology a plus
- excellent communication skills
- excellent computer skills
- self-starter with a friendly, outgoing personality
- excellent customer service skills
- ability to work in a busy office setting
Job Duties
- Welcome patients to the office
- complete check-in process by verifying patient identity, address, and insurance details in Epic EMR
- ensure prior authorizations are in place prior to patient visits
- obtain required signatures and collect co-payments
- balance daily payment entries against computer totals
- discuss balances with patients at check-in and check-out
- schedule follow-up and referral appointments
- manage no-show appointments
- answer phones, route calls, and take messages
- triage basic patient care needs by generating telephone encounters
- register new patients and update demographic and insurance information
- perform according to policy regulations such as Privacy Notification and Medicare secondary
- identify communication barriers
- verify insurance eligibility and scan insurance cards and photo IDs
- accurately use ICD-10 and CPT codes
- post payments according to policy
- reconcile financial data at end of day and month
- handle administrative duties for providers as secretary
- work no-show reports and prepare related communications
