- Must have completed twelfth grade level of school
- background in secretary or receptionist work
- ability to accept responsibility and respect authority
- must demonstrate good judgment and common sense
- willingness to work under pressure
- ability to hold in confidence medical records of patients
- ability to work with individuals of all ages
- must be willing to accept constructive criticism.
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- prior experience as a secretary or receptionist
- knowledge of medical office procedures
- ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- strong organizational and communication skills
- proficiency in basic computer applications

Job Duties
- Coordinates and schedules patients' appointments
- maintains all aspects of patient medical records including scheduling 30-day re-evaluations and re-certifications for Medicare
- records daily patient charges and assists with deposit
- tracks and collects patient's deductibles and copayments
- performs general receptionist and secretarial duties such as answering phone, taking phone messages, filing
- processes all dictation, copies and forwards to referring doctor including Medicare recerts
- any other duties as assigned by the Office Manager or Clinical Director
- greets and checks in patients, provides forms and information sheets, makes patient charts
- discusses patient accounts and insurance coverage at checkout, collects co-payments and sets up payment schedules
- schedules patients on weekly or daily basis, accommodates work schedules
- answers phone before third ring with pleasant voice and proper greeting
- obtains patient insurance information and verifies coverage.
