Job Requirements

  • Minimum age 18
  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • completion of company orientation
  • completion of food safety and sanitation training upon hire
  • ability to function in a fast-paced retail environment

Job Duties

  • Provide superior customer service
  • take orders from customers by telephone or in person
  • answer customer questions regarding products and assist with selections
  • prepare, package, and merchandise fresh product daily
  • slice, package, label, rotate, and cull products for quality
  • assist in technical areas such as set-up and clean-up
  • use suggestive selling techniques and product knowledge to build sales
  • clean and sanitize display cases
  • operate and maintain equipment properly
  • comply with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards
  • comply with department and store operating procedures
  • perform department-specific tasks such as recording production and shrink in bakery
  • operate ordering systems and inventory management in deli
  • serve and package products in prepared foods
  • educate customers on product use
  • perform sanitation and maintenance tasks specific to department equipment
