Job Duties

  • Performs a variety of cleaning tasks in assigned areas
  • collects and empties trash and recycling according to cleaning schedules
  • cleans or removes hazardous or misplaced items, waste, and spills and disposes of them properly
  • assembles cleaning carts and prepares cleaning solutions following manufacturer directions
  • washes floors, corridors, stairwells, walls, partitions, and windows
  • vacuums, strips, waxes floors, and shampoos carpets using manual or mechanical equipment
  • scrubs and cleans showers and restrooms including toilets, sinks, and drains
  • replaces light bulbs and dusts or washes light fixtures and high places
  • polishes wood and metal surfaces, fixtures, furniture, and equipment
  • monitors cleaning supplies and equipment and notifies supervisor of supply levels or maintenance issues
  • replaces, cleans, or hangs building fixtures and decorative items such as curtains and pictures
  • moves and arranges furniture and equipment for cleaning tasks or events
  • may follow disinfectant and waste disposal standards
  • removes snow and salts walkways
  • cleans sidewalks, drives, and grounds
  • mows lawns
  • performs routine laundry duties
  • changes bed linens
