Job Requirements

  • Complete criminal background check
  • complete physical exam and TB screening showing absence of tuberculosis
  • complete SIDS and Shaken Baby Training prior to working with children
  • complete Fire Extinguisher Training
  • obtain certification in Infant/Child CPR and First Aid within 30 days of employment
  • register with the State Childcare registry
  • meet physical demands including standing, walking, sitting, bending frequently
  • occasionally lift or move up to 30 lbs
  • occasionally drive
  • tolerate moderate temperature and noise levels
  • occasionally ride on a school bus
  • use phones, computer systems, and office equipment

Job Qualifications

  • Be 21 years of age or older
  • possess Infant and Toddler CDA or equivalent for Infant and Toddler classrooms or have equivalent coursework in early childhood development focused on infant and toddler development
  • preferred teaching experience with children ages 0-5
  • strong oral and written communication skills
  • bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
  • basic computer skills including data entry and internet use
  • reliable transportation with a valid driver’s license and adequate insurance
  • ability to work flexible or irregular hours including some travel

Job Duties

  • Schedule, complete and track all required home visits and parent/teacher conferences
  • schedule and complete child developmental screenings and assessments
  • ensure timely collection and online entry of classroom observations and documentation
  • complete assessment finalization checkpoints and update individualized plans
  • plan and implement indoor and outdoor learning environments using the Creative Curriculum System, UMOS School Readiness Plan, and Head Start Early Learning Outcome Framework
  • implement daily activity plans, field trips and transition activities, submitting all required documentation on time
  • implement Individual Education Plans (IEP) or Individual Family Service Plans (IFSP) for children with disabilities and track progress
  • maintain documentation such as child roster, absentee list, meal count, classroom child files, case notes, developmental screenings and assessments
  • maintain communication with families capturing ongoing dialogue using the PFCE Framework
  • document and manage the Child Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) in compliance with federal and local regulations
  • implement health and safety policies including storage of hazardous materials, injury and accident prevention, sanitizing, and universal precautions
  • participate in weekly generation and collection of non-federal shares (In-kind)
  • use positive guidance strategies to promote children’s positive behaviors
  • conduct direct sight and sound supervision and active monitoring of children at all times
  • coordinate with other staff on child arrival/departure logistics, environment clean-up, and bus communications
  • attend staff meetings, training sessions and center activities
  • assist in training or supporting other teaching staff as needed
  • perform other duties as assigned
