Job Requirements

  • Must have a valid Class A commercial driver’s license
  • Must have a clean driving record with no suspensions or revocations in past 36 months
  • Must pass the PITT OHIO driving test
  • Must possess or obtain a hazardous materials endorsement within 90 days of employment
  • Must pass DOT physical examination
  • Must consent to pre-employment drug screening and negative results from prior employers
  • Must register with the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse
  • Must complete a full application accurately
  • Must consent to a ten-year employment and driving history check
  • Must be able to perform loading or unloading tasks if certified
  • Must comply with all federal, state, and local transport regulations
  • Must have good work ethic and a cooperative attitude

Job Qualifications

  • Have two years of verifiable interstate driving experience (approximately 200,000 miles) or one year of verifiable interstate experience plus a diploma from an approved driving school
  • Pass the PITT OHIO driving test administered by an approved trainer or designee
  • Possess or obtain hazardous material and tank endorsements within 90 days of employment if applicable
  • Hold only one valid driver’s license issued by the resident state and provide records for verification
  • Have no driving license suspensions or revocations in the past 36 months
  • Have no record of serious violations such as DUI, refusal to test, hit and run, drag racing, reckless driving, or motor vehicle felony in the past 36 months
  • Have no pattern of excessive motor vehicle violations or at-fault accidents as defined in company policy
  • Pass Department of Transportation physical examination and pre-employment drug screen
  • Provide negative controlled substance and alcohol test results from prior employers for the past three years
  • Consent to a ten-year work history check
  • Demonstrate stable work history, dependability, and a positive, cooperative attitude

Job Duties

  • Drive a commercial vehicle safely primarily in road operations during overnight hours
  • Operate terminal to terminal or terminal to relay point routes and return to home terminal daily
  • Work Monday through Friday nights and occasional weekends with home daily schedule unless unexpected circumstances arise
  • Occasionally make customer deliveries or pickups
  • Assist with unloading or loading freight at terminals using pallet jacks, two wheelers or forklifts (PITT OHIO certified only)
  • Secure freight by strapping or other necessary methods
  • Perform vehicle inspections for defects and ensure safe operating conditions as required by law and company policy
  • Comply with all Federal requirements concerning hazardous materials transportation
  • Drive tractor/trailer in compliance with federal regulations and hours of service rules
  • Maintain all required records including driver’s logs for legal compliance
  • Perform all duties following company policies and federal, state, and local regulations for commercial vehicle safety
