Job Requirements
- Maintain a valid California driver license and operate a vehicle
- Demonstrate understanding of policy-contract interpretation
- Exhibit ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work under pressure
- Knowledge of landlord, tenant, and property management relationships
- Experience with managing large exposure bodily injury claims
- Strong analytical and evaluation abilities
- Ability to work independently with advanced claims knowledge
Job Qualifications
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
- Four to six years casualty claim handling experience or six to eight years total claims experience
- Three years handling complex claim files
- Knowledge of current claims laws, including civil and tort law
- Good working knowledge of mathematics and accounting related to income calculations
- Proven ability to comprehend insurance contracts
- Strong negotiation skills
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize work under deadlines
Job Duties
- Investigate at the loss site and evaluate loss, coverage and exposure
- Manage and direct mid to high complexity litigated files, working with panel and plaintiff counsel
- Document claim files accurately and compose reports, correspondence and documentation for compliance
- Settle claims within contractual and legal obligations ensuring fair and equitable settlements
- Establish and monitor claims and reserves reflecting liability for outstanding losses
- Review reserves periodically and report findings on reserve issues and damages
- Perform additional related duties as assigned
