Job Requirements

  • Graduation from high school plus one year of specialized training in general office practices and procedures, PC operation, and various software applications
  • Two years of responsible experience in public relations, marketing, event promotion, or a related field
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
  • Valid Utah driver's license
  • Must be able to provide a copy of driving record
  • Must pass a drug screen
  • Must complete a background check

Job Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school plus one year of specialized training in general office practices and procedures, PC operation, and various software applications
  • Two years of responsible experience in public relations, marketing, event promotion, or a related field
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience considered
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, or similar graphic design software
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of local government operations, event planning, marketing, and advertising
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines
  • Working knowledge of budgeting techniques, journalism standards, and project control
  • Skill in diplomacy, problem-solving, and customer service
  • Ability to draft reports, analyze issues, and communicate effectively

Job Duties

  • Plan and coordinate annual city-sponsored events like Highland Fling, Easter Egg Hunt, Senior Citizen Dinner, and holiday activities
  • Serve as liaison to city organizations including the Arts Council, Historical Committee, and City Council
  • Attend city meetings and provide updates on event progress, recommending policy and procedure improvements
  • Create engaging promotional materials using tools like Canva, Microsoft Word, and Publisher
  • Chair volunteer groups, procure permits, organize vendors and entertainment, and manage sponsorships
  • Plan, manage, and report on event budgets
  • Advise the Highland Youth City Council fostering youth leadership and engagement
  • Provide exceptional customer service to the public
