Job Requirements

  • Must be 21 or older
  • college graduate or equivalent work experience
  • IL BASSET Certification
  • IL Food Handler or Manager Certification
  • Allergan Certification
  • ServSafe Food Manager Certification preferred
  • five or more years experience in a General Manager role in a full service or fine dining restaurant
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
  • ability to resolve conflicts effectively
  • neat and professional appearance
  • ability to work well in a team environment
  • strong problem solving skills
  • understanding of accounting and financial principles
  • ability to manage budgets and interpret financial reports
  • administrative skills including payroll, scheduling, inventory and reporting
  • flexible availability including nights, weekends and holidays
  • physical ability to stand, walk and lift up to 25 pounds regularly

Job Qualifications

  • College graduate or equivalent work experience
  • IL BASSET Certification required, prior Naperville BASSET Certification is a plus
  • IL Food Handler required
  • Allergan Certification required
  • ServSafe Food Manager Certification preferred
  • five or more years experience in a General Manager role within a full service, fine dining restaurant environment
  • Micros Simphony experience preferred
  • knowledge of fine dining, wines, spirits and great service leadership

Job Duties

  • Organizes and conducts pre-shift and departmental meetings
  • assists with the creation and development of community outreach and marketing plans to maximize sales opportunities and maximize use within existing markets
  • conducts ongoing training programs for new and existing employees
  • ability to multi-task and prioritize in a deadline driven, demanding environment
  • coordinates with the F&B, Sales, and Convention Services team for group events
  • organizes special events in the restaurant such as wine dinners, specialty cocktail programs, cooking classes
  • checks for food quality and service consistency
  • oversees the inventories for F&B liquor control
  • provides a positive, empowering, and productive work environment through setting an example and consistency of daily work habits and standards
  • instructs new hires and employees on the expectations and responsibilities for each of their roles
  • interacts positively with customers promoting hotel facilities and services
  • analyzes, investigates, and resolves guest complaints
  • responsible for the implementation and use of the Compeat Inventory and menu item system as a tool to manage and control costs
  • oversees liquor ordering and liquor controls to ensure costs are maintained within established benchmarks
  • oversees staff scheduling to ensure proper coverage while working within labor benchmarks
  • holds staff accountable in a positive and constructive manner following prescribed progressive discipline and consulting with HR Director on employee actions
  • manages staff labor punches ensuring errors are documented and corrected
  • responsible for the update and maintenance of the Micros Point of Sales System and implementation of replacement system as needed
  • manages to budget and understands monthly and year-to-date profit and loss, able to explain variances
  • updates and creates SOPs to document critical processes
  • ensures safety requirements of the company are upheld at all times
  • researches new developments and creates restaurant plans reflecting current legal and safety requirements
  • performs other duties as assigned
