Job Requirements
- Possess a class A Commercial Driver's License with double/triple, hazardous materials and tank endorsements
- have one year experience within the last three years or completed FedEx Freight Driver Development Course
- maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record
- meet all Department of Transportation regulatory requirements under section 391 of the Federal Motor Carrier regulations
- meet Long Combination Vehicles qualification and certification minimum standards if applicable
- have basic math skills
- possess basic written and verbal communication abilities
- be able to lift and carry hand freight up to 100 pounds several times a week
- be able to sit for extended periods and perform physical activities such as bending, twisting, squatting, and climbing in and out of trucks
- ability to follow instructions and complete required training
- able to work independently or as part of a team
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Operate tractor-trailer combination including doubles and triples and/or straight trucks
- perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment
- hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from tractor and/or trailer
- perform freight handling using motorized and manual equipment including forklift, pallet jack and hand truck
- secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps and rope
- recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary
- verify and complete required documentation and reports
- comply with hazardous material regulations and procedures
- collect cash or checks for freight charges and maintain documentation
- follow dispatch instructions and communicate with dispatch as required
- communicate with customers to determine pick-up or delivery needs and solicit additional business
- demonstrate internal and external customer service
- ask for additional business from customers and provide leads to sales
- perform chaining of vehicle tires when required
- perform job duties of road driver or dock employee as necessary
- comply with all applicable laws, regulations and company policies
- perform other duties as required
