Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- One year work or volunteer experience in library, educational or customer service related field
- Ability to bend and stretch to reach materials on low and high shelves
- Ability to lift 25 pounds
- Ability to push full cart of books or library materials
- Ability to stand for up to eight hours per shift
- Ability to operate various types of library equipment
- Familiarity with PC technology, word processing, and email
- U.S. citizenship or proper work authorization
- Successful completion of drug test and physical examination

- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
- One year work or volunteer experience in library, educational or customer service related field

- Ability to operate various types of library equipment
- Effective communication skills
- Basic reference and customer service abilities
Job Duties
- Performs all circulation desk duties using computerized system
- Checks materials in, out, renews, reserves materials
- Collects fines, fees, and makes correct change
- Issues new library cards and updates existing cards
- Empties and checks in book drops
- Answers phones, responds to inquiries and routes calls as necessary
- Assists users locating materials through OPAC or ILL
- Deletes items from Library Catalog
- Prepares materials for circulation including labeling and covering
- Shelves materials
- Performs basic reference work and refers requests to librarian when appropriate
- Assists with class visits and children’s program preparation in Youth Department
- Presents story times as scheduled under librarian’s direction
- Prepares meeting rooms and uses audio/visual equipment in Technical Services
- Sets up and breaks down event spaces
