Job Requirements

  • No formal education required
  • Customer service experience preferred
  • Ability to stand, walk frequently, and ring small handbell repetitively
  • Physical ability to lift, carry, push or pull light objects less than 25 lbs
  • Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions
  • Must be dependable and punctual
  • Ability to comply with dress code and job instructions
  • Willingness to work irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to pass a criminal history background check

Job Duties

  • Ring the bell at your appointed kettle stand/location
  • Respond to the general public’s questions and direct them to appropriate Salvation Army representatives courteously
  • Collect monetary donations on behalf of The Salvation Army
  • Greet guests (donors) in a friendly and hospitable manner
  • Follow instructions and work independently
  • Meet attendance requirements
  • Maintain professional communication with public and staff
  • Never leave kettle unattended except for authorized breaks at secure locations
  • Wear identification and any special clothing provided by The Salvation Army at all times
  • Complete, sign, and place a daily time card at the end of each working day
