Job Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalency
  • Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification required
  • Two years of experience working in a kitchen in an institutional setting
  • Knowledge of nutrition and economical, quality, food preparation
  • Ability to plan and prepare balanced meals for children
  • Experience using and maintaining kitchen equipment
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and follow licensing regulations

Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge planning and preparing a nutritiously balanced lunch each day for the Child and Family Development Center
  • Experience operating kitchen equipment (stove, dishwasher, mixer, Cuisinart, etc.)

Job Duties

  • Plans and prepares a nutritiously balanced lunch each day for the Child and Family Development Center
  • Responsible for ordering, purchasing and receiving food and kitchen supplies and in assuring that all orders are correctly filled and stored
  • When necessary, goes to market, discount stores, etc. to purchase supplies at the best price available
  • Keeps the kitchen clean and in compliance with licensing
  • Operates kitchen equipment (stove, dishwasher, mixer, Cuisinart, etc.)
  • Is responsive to client and staff questions and suggestions about food and when possible, to particular individual needs
  • Responds to agency needs by performing assigned tasks which do not fall within the above description
