Job Requirements

  • Must possess a valid California Food Safe Serve Certification
  • Must possess a valid California Driver's License
  • Must present proof of valid personal auto insurance
  • Ability to drive vehicle to conduct shopping at predetermined destinations
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse community
  • Ability to comply with all university policies including safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies
  • Must have medium work physical capability involving lifting 20-40 pounds
  • Must be available for 1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week
  • Temporary appointment for one year with no permanent status granted

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum two years experience in planning, cooking and distribution of foods in large quantities
  • Experience with providing instruction and training to other employees including cook assistants preferred
  • Experience with meal and menu planning preferred
  • Experience with reporting documentation such as CACFP grant reporting preferred
  • High School Diploma or General GED preferred

Job Duties

  • Preparation and service of breakfast, lunch, and snacks
  • Conduct additional planning and preparation for children with special dietary needs and/or restrictions
  • Four week menu cycle planning for various age groups and dietary accommodations
  • Documentation and record keeping including quantities served and food temperature monitoring
  • Maintain kitchen sanitation and safety measures in line with California Food Safe Serve and CACFP
  • Ordering, receiving, and inventory management of food supplies
  • Cleaning and maintenance of utensils, equipment, and work storage areas
