Job Requirements
- Graduation from high school or equivalent
- Sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities required for the position
- Ability to lift moderately heavy objects
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time
- Dexterity to operate kitchen equipment
- Ability to perform simple math functions
- Ability to follow sanitation and safety protocols
- Willingness to work in a school cafeteria or kitchen environment
- Ability to work cooperatively with others
Job Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or equivalent
- Experience or training in food preparation or food service preferred
- Knowledge of sanitation and safety procedures related to cooking and serving food
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment such as slicers, choppers, mixers, steamers, fryers, dishwashers, warmers, and ovens
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Basic math skills to handle money and make change
- Ability to work cooperatively with others
- Ability to learn and adhere to health and safety regulations
Job Duties
- Prepare, wash and cut vegetables, fruits and other foods for cooking
- Set up serving area
- serve food to students, faculty and other personnel according to established schedules
- work cooperatively to assure that necessary food is available for service
- Maintain work areas and serving areas in a sanitary manner
- clean serving counter, tables, benches, food containers and other equipment
- wash pots and pans, utensils and other serving equipment
- store kitchen equipment
- Operate a variety of standard kitchen equipment including slicer, chopper, mixer, steamer, fryer, dishwasher, warmer, oven and others
- Weigh and measure portions for serving
- count number of items on hand and number sold
- Sell lunch tickets and food items as assigned
- collect monies, make change and maintain simple records
- Prepare or assist in preparing salads, desserts, sandwiches and beverages as assigned
- Pack food for transport to satellite schools as assigned
- Assist other food service personnel as assigned
- Perform related duties as assigned
