Job Requirements

  • Food Handlers Certification
  • one year experience at the level of Child Nutrition Assistant I at CVUSD
  • ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • basic arithmetic skills
  • ability to operate computerized point of sale system
  • ability to work part-time during school-term
  • reliable attendance and punctuality
  • good interpersonal and communication skills
  • compliance with district policies and health regulations

Job Qualifications

  • Experience at the level of Child Nutrition Assistant I at CVUSD
  • knowledge and training in operating a computerized point-of-sale system
  • possession of Food Handlers Certification
  • ability to learn and apply food preparation and sanitation practices
  • basic arithmetic and cashiering skills
  • interpersonal skills demonstrating tact, patience and courtesy
  • ability to operate kitchen equipment and computerized systems
  • good customer service disposition
  • understanding of food safety and storage requirements
  • ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively in English

Job Duties

  • Collect daily lunch sign-in sheets to estimate food and supplies needed
  • complete necessary requisition order forms and communicate with central kitchen staff
  • receive, check, count, record and store daily meal deliveries
  • conduct daily and monthly supply inventories
  • prepare food items including thawing and heating
  • mix ingredients to prepare salads and open food bar items
  • prepare serving areas with food items, condiments and utensils
  • replenish hot food items and salad bar as needed
  • serve students ensuring all meal components are provided
  • manage and operate computerized point of sale system including meal payments and account management
  • prepare reports on student transaction history and outstanding payments
  • count cash and prepare bank deposit slips
  • record quantity of food used and count leftover food
  • store or dispose of food items following safety regulations
  • record cooler and food temperatures for compliance
  • maintain cleanliness and sanitation of cafeteria and kitchen including equipment and utensils
  • provide oversight to student helpers
  • participate in assembly line food preparation and packaging
  • pull bulk food and supplies from storage
  • wash, cut, measure and scoop food items
  • perform other job-related duties as assigned
