Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous experience in a food service environment
  • ability to work Monday through Friday, 6:30am to 2:30pm
  • ability to occasionally move heavy objects
  • willingness to follow strict safety and sanitation guidelines
  • ability to work in a confined workspace for prolonged periods
  • ability to handle potentially infectious materials
  • precise and detail-oriented work approach

Job Qualifications

  • Experience in food preparation and kitchen management
  • ability to supervise staff and student helpers
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures
  • strong organizational and communication skills
  • ability to manage budget and monitor fiscal balance
  • ability to maintain accurate records and documentation
  • ability to work with kitchen machinery and equipment safely
  • basic math skills for inventory and ordering

Job Duties

  • Plans and prepares meals for students and staff in accordance with menus set by Food Services
  • assigns duties and makes written weekly work schedules
  • gives verbal instructions and demonstrations to all kitchen employees
  • responsible for and monitors recordkeeping and daily meal tickets
  • maintains a clean working environment and follows good safety and sanitation rules and procedures
  • maintains Menu Planning Workbook and estimates food quantities for following months
  • prepares weekly orders for bread, dairy, meat and related products, and monthly orders for groceries and commodities
  • signs food and equipment invoices, time slips and reports as requested and returns to Food Services office
  • performs related duties as assigned
